THE MYTH:

THE TRUTH:
The name tequila is a yaqui Indian word meaning truth. Didn't Don Juan teach Carlos Castenada about life through the hazy vapors of mezcal tequila? The word tequila is an Indian word that became a proper name, Tequila, given to a volcano about 40 miles out of Guadalajara, Jalisco's capital. The imagery is fitting. Kabloom! A diuretic, digestif, or possibly an aphrodisiac... but hallucinogen? Nah!
